Existing Rincon Hill Open Space Threatened by New Construction
A group of concerned residents are trying to discourage the Planning Commission from approving the exceptions for dwelling unit exposure and variances for open space at the proposed project at 430 Main Street / 429 Beale Street (Rincon Hill.) This is a very important issue considering the lack of open space in the Eastern Neighborhoods; this project could have a significant negative impact on the existing open space of neighboring buildings.
These neighbors urge you to attend the Planning Commission hearing on April 9, 2009, at City Hall, Room 400, at 1:30 PM to demand a redesign and to protect their existing open space. Find out more information about the community organization effort at http://livable.wetpaint.com. Please read and consider signing their petition here: http://www.petitiononline.com/Livable/petition.html.

2008 Updates
The San Francisco Planning Department recently released a Draft Financial Feasibility Analysis and the Staff Proposal for the Eastern Neighborhoods Development Pipeline for the Eastern Neighborhoods. Both documents affect the future of Open Space provision in the Eastern Neighborhoods. The Financial Feasibilty Analysis discusses the ability of impact fees to provide financing for future Open Space acquisition and maintenance. The Pipeline Proposal determines which development projects submitted for approval before the Eastern Neighborhoods initiation date of April 17, 2008 will be subject to those same impact fees.
For a schedule of upcoming hearings concerning the Eastern Neighborhoods, please check the Plannning Department's website.
A Comments and Responses Document for the Eastern Neighborhoods Environmental Impact Report was released in the beginning of April 2008.
